I’ve been day-dreaming of spring as of late, so I’m inspired to finally put this Modern Spring Elopement editorial into blog form. Kelsey Sykes from Old Time Feeling and I put together a dream elopement last March, featuring her whimsical floral arrangements, vintage flare, and a blooming garden, to showcase our Foraged & Found intimate wedding offerings.
I think my write-up for The Anti-Bride in June 2021 described it best, so I’ll just leave that here:
Photographer Jackie Tara Studios and florist Old Time Feeling aspired to create a romantic wedding scene representative of the colorful spring botanicals and florals of Virginia. With the combined talents of several local Richmond, VA shops, artists, and creatives, they produced a modern springtime elopement story in the lush blooming gardens of historic Agecroft Hall.
Inspired by antique wedding photographs and classic gardens, the creative team curated and incorporated sustainable and vintage elements throughout the setting, from the intimate table-scape with playful foraged blooms, heirloom flatware, naturally dyed silks and linens from Shannon Studio and hand-thrown ceramics by Emily Wicks for Nanin Studio - to the intricate and beautiful vintage jewellery from Mother Daughter Co and glimmering gown adorning the bride.
As both a garden designer and florist, Old Time Feeling grew and foraged most of her ingredients for the bouquet and floral arrangements, combining assorted spring hues with stems of local wisteria, delicate irises, and sweet butterfly ranunculus. Vibrant pink poppies, sourced from local flower farm Hazel Witch, seemed to jump right into the bride’s vintage designer Kiki Hart gown sourced from Halcyon Vintage.
Photographed on a variety of digital and film mediums, all the individual elements of this styled elopement sprang to life in an alchemical fashion and were complimented perfectly by the backdrop of bucolic green hills and the peaceful flow of the James River behind them.
